Former Professional Baseball Player Joins Atlanta-based Wealth Management Firm’s Team of Former Athletes

ATLANTA – February 8th, 2022 – BIP Wealth, one of the Southeast’s premiere wealth management firms, announced the addition of Jacob May to its Baseball Division as Vice President of Business Development. May, who played professionally in the Chicago White Sox organization for six years, is the fourth former professional baseball player to join BIP Wealth’s Baseball Division, which has extensive experience in wealth management, along with a true understanding of the challenges and needs of ball players.

May was previously a Special Assets Officer at United Midwest Savings Bank in Columbus, Ohio. He’s currently on the Board of Directors for USA Baseball and serves as the primary representative for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Athlete’s Advisory Council (AAC).

“My playing career was only a moment in time, but the opportunity to impact players’ lives and families for a lifetime is what excites me most about joining the BIP Wealth Baseball Division,” said May. “At BIP Wealth, we genuinely care about these players and their families. What makes BIP Wealth unique is that we’ve played at the highest level and want to help them on the journey they are about to embark on, are currently on, or have already gone through in their careers.”

May was originally drafted out of high school by the Cincinnati Reds in the 39th round, but chose instead to attend Coastal Carolina University. Being patient paid off as May was ultimately drafted three years later by the Chicago White Sox in the 3rd round, later making his Major League Baseball debut in 2017. May played professionally for the White Sox for a total of six years.

Jacob is such a great addition to our team,” said Kyle Schmidt, Personal Wealth Advisor, CFP® from the BIP Wealth Baseball Division. “Being a former Major League Baseball player, he understands firsthand the opportunities, challenges, and complexities that come from playing this game we all love so much. He’ll be able to guide these ballplayers and families through this unique career path in which so few are able to participate. For so many reasons, we’re excited that he’s now a part of our team.”

May will be based in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, daughter, and two dogs Kai and Bronx. He will work alongside fellow partners in BIP Wealth’s Baseball Division which include: Jim Poole, CFP®, a former World Series pitcher; Kyle Schmidt, CFP®, a former pitcher in the Orioles organization; and John Hester, a former MLB catcher and professional scout. The BIP Wealth Baseball Division serves draft-eligible, current, and retired professional baseball players and their families.
